How do I calculate my clock-out time?

Add your required work time and unpaid break minutes to your clock-in time.

If you start at 8:00 AM, need eight hours of work and take a 30-minute unpaid lunch, add eight hours and 30 minutes. Your clock-out time is 4:30 PM. Paid rest time already included in your work hours does not extend the prediction.

Clock-out examples with a 30-minute unpaid lunch

An eight-hour workday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch takes eight hours and 30 minutes from clock-in to clock-out.

Can I calculate an overnight shift?

Yes, the result is marked “Next day” when the shift finishes after midnight.

For a 10:00 PM start, eight hours of work and no unpaid break, the result is 6:00 AM the next day. Keep the whole shift, including breaks, within 24 hours. The calculation uses the clock times you enter, rather than a dated timezone calculation.

How do I enter seven and a half hours?

Enter 7 hours and 30 minutes, or enter 7.5 hours with zero additional minutes.

Decimal hours are multiplied by 60 before adding any extra minutes. Work time must resolve to whole minutes so the result matches the minute precision of the clock-in field.

Does this apply rounding or overtime rules?

This clock-out calculator uses exact minutes and does not apply punch rounding or overtime thresholds.

Use your required work duration for the shift. If your workplace rounds punches, review its policy separately. The rounding guide explains the distinction, and the time card calculator can total completed shifts with editable overtime and rounding settings.
